The FAO Food Price Index averaged 172.6 points in October 2016, up 1.2 points (0.7 percent) from September and 9.1 percent above the corresponding month last year. Except for a short-lived drop in July, the Index has risen continuously since the start of the year.
In September 2016, the FAO Food Price Index (FFPI) averaged 170.9 points, up almost 5 points (2.9 percent) from August and 10 percent above the corresponding month last year.The September value is the highest since March 2015.

The FAO Food Price Index hits a 15-month high in August
The FAO Food Price Index (FFPI) averaged 165.6 points in August 2016, up 3 points (1.9 percent) from July and almost 7 percent above the corresponding period last year. The August value of the Index is the highest since May 2015.

The FAO Food Price Index (FFPI) averaged 155.8 points in May 2016, 3.2 points (2.1 percent) higher than in April, but still 7 percent below the corresponding period last year.

The FAO Food Price Index averaged 151.0 points in March 2016, up 1.0 percent from February, but still 12.0 percent below its March 2015 level. A sharp increase in sugar prices and higher oil prices more than offset a drop of the price of dairy products.
