Chlorogenic acid is one of the main polyphenols in (white) potatoes. This ester of caffeic acid and quinic acid is considered a bioactive compound with antioxidant properties and has been linked to a small reduction in blood pressure. Chlorogenic acid - available as a dietary supplement - is still under investigation for additional biological effects.
