Variety Description

​The Freedom Russet is a dual-purpose russet potato cultivar developed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It was developed from a cross between ND14-1, a parent with scab resistance, and W1005rus, a parent with good processing quality.

  • Yields are superior or comparable to similar varieties
  • Exhibits superior tuber bulking rate when harvested at 120 days
  • Highly resistant to Verticillium wilt (a component of early drying syndrome)
  • Resistant to most strains of common scab
