Franca is an early-maturing seed potato variety with firm flesh, developed by Europlant Pflanzenzucht GmbH. It is particularly suitable for the production of potatoes for consumption, aimed at export markets.
Characteristics of the Franca Variety:
- Cooking Type: Primarily firm, offering excellent cooking stability and a low tendency to darken.
- Tuber Appearance: Round-oval shape with smooth, yellow skin and yellow flesh.
- Yield: Very high with excellent uniformity in tuber size.
- Vegetative Growth: Moderate initial growth, followed by rapid acceleration.
- Storage: Very good storage capability, allowing for storage until May/June.
- Resistance: Good resistance to nematodes (Ro1, Ro2/3, Ro5) and late blight.
- Sensitivity: Sensitive to late blight, requiring regular fungicide protection.
