Variety Description

​The 'Axona' potato, commonly known as 'Sarpo Axona', is a late maincrop variety developed for its exceptional disease resistance and robust growth characteristics.​

Tuber Characteristics: 

  • Skin: Attractive pink to red.​
  • Flesh: Creamy white.​
  • Size and Shape: Large, regular-shaped tubers.​
  • Texture: Floury, making it suitable for various culinary uses such as baking, mashing, boiling, and salads. ​

Disease Resistance: 

  • Late Blight: Exhibits outstanding resistance to both foliage and tuber blight. ​
  • Blackleg: Shows some resistance. ​
  • Dry Rot: Moderate resistance to Fusarium coeruleum but susceptible to Fusarium sulphureum. ​
  • Potato Cyst Nematodes: Susceptible to Globodera rostochiensis Ro1 and Globodera pallida Pa2/3,1. ​
