Violetta is a striking early maincrop potato variety known for its deep blue skin and blue flesh. Bred by Karsten Ellenberg, it features long, shallow-eyed tubers and medium to tall plants with blue-violet flowers. Violetta offers good resistance to dry rot (Fusarium sulphureum), moderate resistance to bruising, splitting, and leafroll virus, but is susceptible to tuber late blight and potato cyst nematodes (Globodera spp.). Its unique appearance makes it popular in specialty markets and for culinary presentation.
