Melanie is a medium-early potato variety bred by EUROPLANT, primarily suited for French fry production due to its high yields, excellent processing quality after long-term storage, and very good dormancy. It produces long-oval tubers with netted skin, white to light yellow flesh, and shallow eyes. Melanie is resistant to potato cyst nematode (Ro1) and wart disease (races 1 and 6), with low susceptibility to bruising, moderate susceptibility to common scab and mechanical damage, and medium to high susceptibility to spraing.
