Nutracea (RiceBran Technologies)

NutraCea, founded in 1998, was a US-based company that specialized in the stabilization and processing of rice bran into value-added products for human and animal nutrition.

The company created proprietary technique to stabilize rice bran, a byproduct of rice milling, keeping it from spoiling quickly and allowing it to be used in a variety of nutritional applications.  NutraCea's product line comprised stabilized rice bran, rice bran oil, and derivatives for use in food ingredients, dietary supplements, and animal feed.

In 2005, NutraCea joined with RiceX, a business that created a patented rice bran stabilization technique, to expand their rice bran processing capabilities.  The merger aims to grow the worldwide rice bran industry by combining NutraCea's emphasis on human nutrition with RiceX's experience in animal feed applications.

In 2012, NutraCea rebranded as RiceBran Technologies, reflecting their focus on rice bran bio-refining.  The company continued to develop and commercialize rice bran-based goods, highlighting their nutritional value and potential applications in many industries. ​
