Today in Arequipa the Potato Festival marks National Potato Day, featuring a variety of dishes for hundreds of guests to taste, reports Andina.
The event's goal is to highlight the variety of dishes that can be prepared with potato as a base. Arequipa produces 150,000 tons per year.
Gastón Acurio - a peruvian chef and ambassodor of the peruvian cuisine - encourages Peruvians to not think of the delicious dishes or of the famous stuffed potato today. On his Facebook page he writes, "Think instead to thank the producers of potatoes who all year long struggle with efforts to bring their potatoes into our homes."
