De 975 medewerkers van aardappelzetmeelconcern Avebe gaan het komende jaar acht dagen extra werken zonder daar loon voor te ontvangen. Dat maakte een woordvoerder van het concern vrijdag bekend. De maatregel is nodig om de economische crisis het hoofd te bieden.
In juli werd de maatregel voorgesteld aan de vakbonden, omdat er fors op uitzendkrachten bespaard kan worden als de vaste werknemers extra uren draaien. Vrijdag zijn de bonden akkoord gegaan. Daarnaast kunnen medewerkers ook op andere locaties ingezet worden. Het alternatief voor de maatregel was dat er gedwongen ontslagen zouden vallen.
