The Continuous Popcorn Line is a complete and efficient system designed for the industrial production of expanded popcorn with either sweet or salty coatings. This line integrates expansion, separation, caramelization, cooling, and packaging into a streamlined process, ensuring consistent product quality and high productivity.
Process Overview:
- Expansion Drum: The process begins in a rotating perforated metal drum, where a stream of air—preheated by electric resistances—passes through the drum with the help of fans. The residence time of the product in the drum and the air temperature are both automatically controlled to match the characteristics of the raw corn, ensuring optimal popping and expansion.
- Separation Drum: After expansion, the popcorn passes through a rotating separator drum that removes un-popped kernels and fine particles, preparing the product for coating.
- Caramelization (Batch Process): The coating process is done in manual batch caramelizing pans, which can be used for sweet or savory coatings. These pans feature electric heating, manual stirring, and manual tilting. After heating the coating mixture, the popcorn is added manually, and the ingredients are mixed for a set time to ensure uniform coverage.
- Cooling and Separation: The coated popcorn is transferred via a hopper into a cooling unit, which: Separates out remaining fine particles and cools the product for packaging readiness.
- Final Conveying: A continuous conveyor moves the finished popcorn to the packaging station, completing the line.
